What can I expect from therapy?

Beginning Therapy:

Taking the first step to begin therapy is hard and finding the right therapist can seem insurmountable! I'm happy to meet and help you get to know me to see if you feel comfortable with me. I want to be able to help you the best way I can and we do that together when we are comfortable and you feel you can trust me. There are many reasons why people come to therapy. Often in my practice, people simply want a better quality of life and to be happier. We can do that. Sometimes it is to deal with long-standing psychological issues or problems with anxiety or depression. Other times it is in response to unexpected changes in one's life such as a divorce or work transition. Many seek the advice of counsel as they pursue their own personal exploration and growth. I can help you find insight, support, and new strategies for having an easier life with more joy. I also enjoy helping people reduce their stress and anxiety, have less conflict in their relationships at home and at work, process feelings of grief (new or unresolved), and general life transitions.


Clients generally find our work together to be an invaluable resource to facilitate and strengthen personal growth, relationships at home and work or school, family concerns, marriage issues, and the general operations of daily life. Clients often experience a fresh perspective on a difficult problem. I frequently hear statements like: "I never thought about it that way."
